The Zyorb is a flying invulnerable resonant enemy first encountered in The Stygian Study (through burdens) that behaves more like a hazard than an enemy, bouncing off the rooms' edges and inflicting damage on contact with the player.

Behaviour[]

Zyorbs' behaviour is straightforward: they start flying in a random direction as you enter the room and simply bounce off of the room's edges continuously, ignoring the terrain. They always travel in a straight line (making them predictable), don't have any attacks and never target the player in any way. They are completely invulnerable, and though they can be affected by status effects like Tiny StatusEffect Icon Burn Burn and Tiny StatusEffect Icon Poison Poison and can steal life on hit (with the Tiny Burdens Icon Burden of Blood Burden of Blood), this has no effect on them.
However, Yorbs can still be Tiny StatusEffect Icon Frozen Frozen using for example Tiny Icon Talent Winters Shout Winter's Shout or Tiny Spell Icon Freeze Strike Freeze Strike, stopping their movement and rendering them harmless temporarily.
Attacking a Zyorb with most melee weapons will interrupt the player and knock them back. On the other hand, they can be safely Spin Kicked but be aware that they're resonant, and doing so will launch the player at a much higher height than a normal Spin Kick would. They can also be launched into other enemies for damage using the Boxer's Tiny Icon Talent Knockout Punch Knockout Punch.
Since Zyorbs deal damage by ramming into the player, they always deal contact damage.

The most important feature of the Zyorb is that unlike Orbs and Yorbs it ignores walls and terrains. It's capable of flying right through them and will instead only bounce off of the room's outer limits. This can prove disorienting and is compounded by the Zyorb's high movement speed.

Since it's classified as an enemy (and not as a biome hazard like the Nightmare) the Yorb is affected by enemy-specific Burdens in New Game Plus, but it is not affected by the Tiny Burdens Icon Burden of Ruin Burden of Ruin. This means it can move faster, deal more damage, shred Armor on hit, and evolve into a more dangerous variant of itself depending on the burdens taken.

Attacks[]

Zyorbs don't have any attack, they just bounce around the room hurting the player if they come into contact with them.

Location[]

Zyorbs can only appear once you reach NG+1 and unlock the use of burdens: each level of the Tiny Burdens Icon Burden of Evolution Burden of Evolution enabled will add a 10% chance for a Yorb in The Stygian Study to instead spawn as a Zyorb.

Variants[]

Orbs are one of the only enemy family to also feature a Mini-Boss variant, along with Rocket Boxes and Plinkies.
