Class Passive[]

  • The Valkyrie's class passive is Battleborn, granting +5% Magic Crit. Chance and +10% Magic Crit. Damage.

Weapon

The Valkyrie's weapon is the Fauchard.

  • The Fauchard can attack in different directions (up, down and forward) by pressing Attack + the corresponding directional key.
    • This gives you lots of versatility. Dash attacks through walls are especially powerful.
  • Down-striking an enemy or prop bounces the player in the same way a Spin Kick does.
  • You can attack while Dashing, including up and down.
    • All Dash Attacks are Skill Crits.
    • For up/down attacks, try to glide your weapon across enemies as you dash.
  • Lady Quinn refers it to as a spear.

Talent

Valkyrie's Talent is Deflect.

  • The Valkyrie spins her weapon, destroying nearby Mid-sized Projectiles and dealing minor damage to enemies hit.
    • If at least one projectile is destroyed in this way, Deflect's cooldown is reset.
    • The Valkyrie gains 15 Mana for each destroyed projectile.
  • 5-hit recharge.

Class Tips

Valkyrie's class passive paired with Deflect makes her ideal for being built as a hybrid caster using a combination of Strength, Intelligence and Magic Crit Chance. She has a strong defense with the range on her Fauchard, Deflect's projectile deletion and an Average Health pool, meaning it's not necessary to use Armor Sets for this purpose.

The Fauchard, while versatile, does only slightly more damage than the Tiny Weapon Icon Frying Pan Frying Pan and has a noticeably slower attack speed than other melee weapons. Therefore, while Strength is a worthwhile stat, it is best used in conjunction with at least 1 other Magic-focused set, like the Tiny Armor Icon Scholar Scholar Set or Tiny Armor Icon Leviathan Leviathan Set.

It's helpful to use range to your advantage as a Valkyrie. Poke enemies from a safe distance with the Fauchard and blast them with spells, using Deflect as needed on projectiles. A more aerial style using Spin Kicks and Fauchard downstrikes can also be effective. As such, look for Curio Shoppe weapons that allow you to do this well, while keeping in mind most of your damage is coming from your spells.

Fabled Class[]

Royal Vikings
  • Press Up/Down on a Valkyrie during Character Select to change them into Gods of Thunder.
  • A God of Thunder is the same as a Valkyrie but starts with Tiny Weapon Icon Mjolnir Mjolnir.
  • Mjolnir is a throwable hammer that sticks in terrain and deals AoE Magic damage over time while stuck. Can be recalled if stuck, returning the hammer to you and dealing a Skill Crit to any enemies it hits. Become Chris Hemsworth.

Lady Quinn Quotes[]

  1. "H-h-hey! It's a Valkyrie! Your weapon is super versatile. Did you know that you can attack in four different directions? Up, left, down, and r-r-r-r-reft. Sorry, I meant right. The trade-off is that it's a bit clunky. So your attack speed will be a LITTTTLE slower.
  2. The Valkyrie has one of the coolest moves ever: Deflect! Correctly timing Deflect requires precision, but if done correctly it will knock away a-a-a-almost any projectile! As long as they're not too big. P-p-plus, every time you successfully Deflect a projectile, your cooldown resets! So if you're really good, you can Deflect forever!
  3. Deflecting projectiles also gives you Mana. It's crazy how powerful it is. So if you're fighting a Flamelock, you can just Deflect everything and get ALL your Mana back SUPER FAST! It's th-th-that good!
  4. Did you notice if you hit an enemy f-f-from above with a downward swing, you will actually b-b-bounce up into the sky? The bounce height is almost the s-s-same as a Spin Kick. Here's a cool trick if y-y-y-ou're really confident: Downstrike an enemy, then Spin Kick right away to deal extra damage!

Trivia[]

  • Prior to 0.6.0, Valkyries were one of the best classes in the game. After several nerfs to damage, health, and Deflect radius, Valkyries were still very strong. It wasn't until the advent of Skill Crits and class passives that the Valkyrie moved into a much more balanced caster-type role.
