Just as in the first Rogue Legacy, traits are made available when selecting the first heir in the lineage after the player's first death.
Overview
Traits change the Heir's capabilities in a variety of ways; some provide benefits like auto-revealing treasure chest locations on the map. Others are simply cosmetic or have no effect. Some can be extreme hindrances, like
, which results in the Heir dying after taking any damage.The Manor counterbalances all negative traits with a gold bonus that scales in accordance with how severe the trait is.
upgrade in theTrait descriptions are hidden until the player selects an heir with such trait for the first time.
Traits are listed alphabetically according to their Scientific names.

||
Alexithymia /
Unempathetic |
The emotions of others elude you. Can't see damage dealt. |
Hides bosses' health bars too. Can be removed with Nerdy Glasses. |
+25% | |
Algesia | Stubbing your toe may lead to cardiac arrest. No immunity window after taking damage. |
Removes the brief invincibility that is normally gained after taking damage.
NOTE: The Ambrosia relic does not provide any benefit while affected by this trait. |
+50% | |
N/A | Antique | N/A | Heir starts with a random relic, even if the relic has not been seen before. Resolve cost still applies. Can occur twice on the same Heir.
Associative Agnosia | A table is just a word to you. Enemies are blacked out. |
Enemies are rendered with a black silhouette.
Can be very punishing to beginners, but is easier to deal with as you learn enemy attack patterns.
|
+25% | |
Bookish | Next-level nerd. +50% Magic Damage and +50% MP Capacity. -25% HP. |

Makes navigation harder, but shows all chests and rooms.
Note that you can only see the map for your current biome (this is an intended effect). |
25% | |
Charismatic | The #1 indicator for success. 15% gold discount from all shops. |
Only applies to the Blacksmith and Enchantress.
Does not discount Ore or Red Aether costs. |
||
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome / Exhausted |
Sudden siesta assault. All Spells and Talents have a cooldown. |

Amazing with Rock Star. |
||
Clumsy | Like a bull in a china shop. Or any shop really. Objects break on touch. |
Objects are broken when touching them. This has the benefit of being able to walk through Black Roots without damage, but has the drawback of destroying the green platforms in Pishon Dry Lake if you don't land on them from above.

Compulsive Gambling / Lootbox Addict | A world of sharks, pigeons, and whales. Only chests drop gold and chest values swing wildly! |
The gambling roll only affects the quantity of gold dropped from the chest; Gold Bonus applies normally to whatever drops. Roll ranges from 0% to 350% chest value.
Excellent with . |
50% | |
Compulsive Hoarder | You never know when you'll need a backup. All Relics are Twin Relics (when possible). |
|||
Contrarian / Innovator |

Can give you a Fabled Weapon. |
25% | |
Crippling Intellect | You are an arcane vortex. -50% Health and Weapon Damage. Mana regenerates over time. |
Incredibly powerful on a Barbarian or any high HP class as it helps negate the health penalty. The mana regen is potent, resulting in a full mana bar after only a few seconds, meaning the weapon damage penalty can essentially be ignored.
Strong synergy with Zealot's Ring (+25% spell damage at full MP), since your mana will almost always be full. Amazing with . |
||
Disattuned /
Only Heart |
Mind into matter.
25% less health, but you can only be hit in the heart. |
Hitbox reduced to small red heart area.
Static spikes will still damage the player normally. Many hazards are significantly mitigated (notably Slug poison trails and orange projectiles fired by Murmur). Is a reference to the game Undertale. WARNING: Makes the player difficult to see in challenge portals. |
||
Diva | You are a star! Everyone gets a spotlight but all eyes are on you. |

Fine motor controls are your foe. Items go flying! |
Mitigated somewhat with Magnesis |
25% | |

||
Endomorph | You've got a little belly! You barely flinch when enemies hit you. |
Great for tanking bosses.

25% | |
FND / Stressed | Functional Neurological Disorder. You become Disarmed when stressed. |
Taking damage inflicts Disarmed, meaning the player cannot attack or use spells for 2 seconds. Spin kicks can still be performed.

50% | |

Dropped items will disappear after a short period. |
Means you can't leave behind health drops and potions for later.
Fun-Guy/Gal | I love mushrooms!
You really like mushrooms. |
All Health Drops are replaced with giant mushrooms, and taking damage causes the Heir to shrink. The mushrooms magnetize to you and heal you the normal amount, while also making you grow as large as an Heir with Gigantism. The size increase lasts until you take a hit, whereupon you shrink to your normal size. Taking a hit in your normal size will make you as small as an Heir with Dwarfism. Is a reference to the Super Mushroom power-up in the Mario franchise. |
||
Gigantism | You make other people self-conscious about their height. You are gigantic. |
Heir and weapon hitboxes dramatically increased. Also increases the size of some spells, such as | or .25%

Great for spamming Spells at bosses, as long as you can avoid their attacks.
Masochism | Pleasure from pain. Gain 50% of your mana when hit, but can't regain mana from attacks. |
Pairs well with Cosmic Insight as well as Coeus' Shell. Talents that restore Mana by dealing damage, like or , also count as attacks. A Valkyrie with this trait can still restore Mana by using . A Knight can also restore Mana without losing HP by performing Perfect Blocks. |
25% | |

Nostalgic | Remember the good ol' days? Naps in the park, ice cream socials, and the Plague. Everything is old-timey tinted. |
Adds a yellow-tinted old movie effect and alters the audio to sound like old records. Can be removed with Nerdy Glasses. |
25% | |
One-Hit Wonder / Fragile | One shot, one opportunity. You die in one hit. |
The Heir only dies if actual damage is taken. Relics such as Lotus Stem, Coeus' Shell, and The Serrated Handle's Bargain are excellent with this trait. Relics can be taken freely, as Resolve's HP penalty is meaningless. |
200% | |
Pacifier | Playtime is over. -60% Health and you love to fight! |

Pacifist | Peace for profit. -60% Health and you can't deal damage. |
Cannot deal damage with weapon or Spin Kick. Talent & Spell is disabled. Weapon can be used to knock enemies back & open Trick Walls. Also, Retaliation Runes have no effect either. List of Talents usable by a Pacifist (but still deal no damage):

25% | ||
Perfectionist | There's only first or worst. Only Skill Crits deal damage. |

50% | |
Puritan | Everything is lewd. Enemies are censored. |
Makes it hard to see attack telegraphs. Best avoided if you're a beginner. | 25%
Spelunker | Relegated from a Class to a Trait. -10% HP but you can see all chests on the map! |
Great for farming runs.
Superfluid | You have zero viscosity. -20% Health, but you can dash in ANY direction. |
Potentially powerful for Weapons that use dashing for Skill Crits, but can be hard to use effectively.
Super IBS | Every day is Taco Blast Tuesday. Your Talent is replaced with Super Fart. |
Super Fart releases a fart cloud that deals initial damage equal to 100% of Intelligence, inflicts 3 seconds of Burn on enemies, and launches the player upwards. 3 second cooldown. Great on Rock Star.
Synesthesia | The color of movement. Everything leaves behind color. |
Anything that moves leaves behind a trail of color that fades after a short while. Can be removed with Nerdy Glasses. |
25% | |
True Rogue | Gold, Ore and Aether grants Resolve. Boss Chests Transmogrify you. |

Vampirism | You were bitten by a syringe. Gain 20% of your Weapon Damage as Health, but you take 125% more damage. |

||
Vegan | Meat is murder. It's literally trying to kill you. Eating food hurts you. |
Health Drops deal damage equal to the amount they would normally heal you. Armor still reduces the damage taken. Chef's talent is still replenished upon collection. During Halloween and Christmas, Meat drops are replaced with Candy/Cookies, which will restore 1 HP instead of dealing damage. |
