The Mr. Bones is an enemy encountered in The Sun Tower and Pishon Dry Lake. Though slow walking, it poses much more of a threat than its weaker variant because of its new attack and jumping ability.
Behaviour[]
The Mr. Bones is a slow walking ranged enemy. It moves with small steps, often going back and forth. It attacks by throwing bones in a tall arc in front of itself or by launching a rib forward horizontally that returns after some time. As a stronger variant of the Skeleton it has the ability to jump while performing any of its two attacks making them a lot more unpredictable and dangerous. While it doesn't aim, it will adapt which attack it uses based on how far the player is, most notably throwing its bone in a wider arc and using its jump attacks more frequently when the player is further away.
It cannot fall off edges on its own, but will get hurt by spikes and environmental hazards (water & clouds) if it falls (or jumps) into them.
Attacks[]
Bone Throw[]
The Mr. Bones throws a bone high in the air in front of them that travels in a tall arc and accelerates as it goes down.
This bone is a Mid-sized Projectile that can pass trough walls and can be countered by a lot of means, like the talent,
the spell or
Dragon Lancer's
.
While predictable and not dangerous if you're at the same level as the Mr. Bones, the bone can fall down on you through walls and surprise you if you're lower.
Because it can perform this attack by jumping, being above a Mr. Bones can also prove risky.
The Mr. Bones can change how tight the arc of its throw is depending on how far the player is.
Rib Boomerang[]
The Mr. Bones hurls a rib forward that travels horizontally and is not affected by gravity.
After a set time (or earlier if it reaches the room edges) it slows down, stops for a brief moment, and then speeds up again as it returns toward the Mr. Bones like a boomerang.
This rib is a Mid-sized Projectile that can pass trough walls and can be countered by a lot of means, like the talent,
the spell or
Dragon Lancer's
.
While predictable and not dangerous (especially if you're not on the same level as the Mr. Bones), the rib's return trajectory couple with its long lifespan can surprise you.
Because it can perform this attack by jumping, being above a Mr. Bones isn't totally safe.
Location[]
Mr. Bones can only appear naturally in The Sun Tower and Pishon Dry Lake (including within red portals).
Once you reach NG+1, you will unlock the use of burdens:
- enabling the Skeletons in Axis Mundi into Mr. Bones. will evolve every
- each level of the Skeleton in the Citadel and Axis Mundi to instead spawn as a Mr. Bones enabled adds a 10% chance for a
- the same burden also adds a 10% chance for Mr. Bones in the Tower and Pishon Dry Lake to evolve into the strongest variant, the McRib
- using both burdens make it possible for a Mr. Bones in Axis Mundi (evolved from a Skeleton) to turn into a McRib.
