The Mimicant is the stronger variant of the Mimic that can be encountered only in NG+. Disguised as a treasure chest, it remains motionless but attacks as soon as the player disturbs it.
Behaviour[]
Mimicants are identical to treasure chests in appearance apart from two things: they always face right, and they do not sparkle. Normal chests always have a sparkling light effect, and always spawn in predictable positions; usually in the corners of rooms, or exactly in the center of ledges. Players can use the map as well to see where real treasure chests are, as Mimicants do not appear on the map.
Initially, Mimicants lie motionless, looking like wooden treasure chests. Once disturbed, either by being attacked or if the player bumps into them, they'll start moving by hopping or dashing towards the player, and will only stop if the player wanders too far. Unlike the weaker Mimics, Mimicants also have a chance to wake up on their own if the player gets too close. They can fall off edges while hopping or dashing and will get hurt by spikes/water if they fall into them.
Be careful as their hopping motion allows them to climb smaller obstacles.
As they attack by bumping into the player, they always deal contact damage even when idle.
Attacks[]
Hopping[]
Once woken up, the Mimicant will start hopping towards the player, trying to bump into them.
Attacking the Mimic in this state will hit-stun them for a short amount of time. Fast attacking Weapons and Spells, like the and excel at this.
Dashing[]
After hopping towards the player for some time, the Mimicant will stop for a short moment before launching itself rapidly along the floor for a set amount of time.
While it's dashing, it will first move towards the player but will change direction every time it hits an obstacle.
Similar to the hopping attack, it's possible to stop them in their track by hit-stunning them repeatedly..
Death Explosion[]
When a Mimicant dies, after a short delay, it will explode launching 5 green, poisonous coins about itself that land on terrain and disappear after a short time.
The coins count as Mid-sized Projectiles and thus can be destroyed by many Spells and Talents like Ranger's ,
