The Ember Hatchet is an enemy encountered in Citadel Agartha. It attacks by throwing itself at the player.

Behaviour[]

The Ember Hatchet is a flying melee enemy that always try to move towards the player. It attacks by throwing itself at the player while spinning. While it's rather slow during normal movement, it will move faster during its spin attack.
It has a good knockback resistance and cannot get hurt by spikes & environmental damage (water/clouds) if it flies into them.

Attacks[]

Spinning Charge[]

After a brief wind up, the Ember Hatchet charges at the player while spinning, for around 6 seconds.
It will attempt to fly into the player, following them around.
It moves fast but has a low turn speed, making it prone to bump into walls.

Location[]

Ember Hatchets can only appear naturally in Citadel Agartha (including within red portals).

Once you reach NG+1, you will unlock the use of burdens: each level of the Tiny Burdens Icon Burden of Evolution Burden of Evolution enabled adds a 10% chance for an Ember Hatchet in the Citadel to instead spawn as its next higher tier, the Burning Axe.

Variants[]

Flying Axes are one of the few enemy families to also feature a Void Beast (story based mini-boss) variant.
