Dashing is a movement mechanic. It's used for traversal, Skill Crits with Weapons, and interacting with Void barriers and projectiles.
There are many advanced dashing techniques.

Techniques[]
There are a few special techniques you can use with dashing. Mastering these can open up a lot of new ways of playing.
Dash Attack[]
With most weapons, attacking right after dashing will perform a dash attack, which scores a Skill Crit.
Your weapon will glow gold when it can dash attack. The window of time when this is available is quite narrow, but practicing with the Training Dummy will help your timing.
For Classes with weapons that pierce walls, dash attacking can be used with Edge Dashing to land Skill Crits on enemies that can't reach you, dealing extra damage in a shorter span of time.
Dash Cancel[]
You can cancel a dash by jumping. This technique is incredibly helpful when performing a Dash Attack: By jumping right after you land a hit, you can halt the dash and prevent contact damage.
Jump Cancel[]
You can cancel a jump (and a Spin Kick bounce) by dashing. This is required for some Fairy Chest challenges, and is essential for navigating and avoiding damage in The Sun Tower.
Attack Cancel[]
You can cancel the animation of many weapons by dashing. The Training Dummy mentions this for the Knight's Sword, but it's usable with nearly every weapon.
Attack cancelling is especially helpful with
, allowing you to hit an enemy then withdraw before getting hit by contact damage.Edge Dash[]
You can keep yourself airborne for longer by dashing against the edge of walls. This is useful for avoiding damage, as well as performing dash attacks with weapons that can pierce walls.
Notable Classes[]
Dash attacks are especially useful for Valkyrie, who can use it with their vertical weapon strikes to "glide" their weapon into enemies during the dash attack window.
Dash attacks are also very helpful with Barbarian, improving their aerial attack damage potential. Stacking multiple Dash and Vault Runes can keep Barbarians in the air for a long time, landing chained dash attacks and inflicting massive damage.
