Charon the Ferryman

Charon is one of the first NPCs you encounter on the Docks. He brings you (the player) to Citadel Agartha in exchange for all of the gold that you are holding.

If the player has unlocked The Living Safe upgrade in the Manor, 10% of the gold given to Charon will instead be deposited in the Safe for use the next time you return to the Docks. This amount can be increased to a maximum of 90% using upgrades in the Soul Shop.

Upgrades

The following upgrades are related to Charon:

Upgrade	Effect
Offshore Bank Account	Unlocks the Living Safe, letting you keep some gold that would otherwise go to Charon.
Charity Dungeon	Giving Charon gold grants Stat Bonuses.
Courthouse	Increase Living Safe's Max Gold Capacity (+1500 Gold per rank). Upgrade this whenever your cheapest upgrade is close to the current capacity. Any Gold that goes over this capacity is given to Charon (upgrading his Tribute levels), so unsaved gold isn't technically wasted. Requires Unbreakable Will to upgrade past level 20, up to level 50. Requires Cosmic Overload to upgrade past level 50, up to level 170.
Scribes Office	Increase Living Safe's Gold Conversion (+4% Gold per rank). Upgrade this to keep more gold. At max level you'll keep 90% of your gold, up from the default 10%. Requires Unbreakable Will to upgrade past level 10, up to level 20.

Tributes

After unlocking Charity Dungeon in the Manor, Charon gains Tribute Levels that are reached when the player has given him enough gold.

Each Tribute Level gives +1 to all Stats, +2 Armor, and +2 Rune Weight.

There are 25 Tribute Levels to start. They can be increased by 3 per purchase of Insatiable Greed upgrade in The Soul Shop for a total of 100 Tribute Levels.
